This gives me an idea. Beyond the sticker, after we finish Underdog maybe I’ll get a toy version done up. It would be the ultimate schwag. Time to email Kovap.

I just watched the trailer for the new Shrek movie and had to rewind it and grab a screen shot. I guess if VW built a bus back in the medieval days, it would have looked something like this one - complete with barn doors and surf board. Anything is possible in the land of Far Far Away.

A relic from my childhood unearthed in a bag of broken cars. Unfortunately, I think this splittie is unrestorable.

How do you make a round bus out of square blocks? Like this.
This Lego splittie has to one of the cooler VW Bus toys I’ve seen. Too bad Lego doesn’t sell it as a kit. More photos in Brickself Gallery. Can’t forget to check out the Lego Beetle while you’re there.

I just realized one of Alex’s little shape puzzles, the one with the “modes of transportation” theme, has a bus ambulance in it. I’m not sure where this puzzle came from, it showed up around the time of his second birthday. If anybody knows the source let me know. It also has a car that looks vaguely like a Beetle, but only if you squint your eyes a lot.

My latest bus, a 1969 “VW Clipper” (1:43 scale), courtesy of ebay. Anybody know why its called a Clipper? It’s really retro (even says “retro” on the box), made of tin and has rubber tires. Its made by a company called Kovap - I think they’re from the Czech Republic - ol’ skool production techniques there.
They also make a John Deere model, Ambulance and single cab.

While out shopping a few weeks ago we stumbled onto a Paul Frank outlet store. Of course as soon as I saw this shirt, I had to buy it for Alex. We also grabbed him a bad-ass black hoddie. Both come from the Small Paul Collection. Devil horns back at ya Julius.
The soon to be famous 1960 splity bus named Fillmore is now in the showroom on the Cars official movie site. I’m sure his popularity will be huge. Little Fillmores have already started showing up on eBay.

Big reserve price for a little bus, but hey when is a runt like this going to come up for sale again? Well maybe next week, since it didn’t sell.
